In regards to reaching out for support. Please remember the following guidelines:
- This chat is not meant to serve as a crisis line. If you are in crisis, reach out to the group for support and connection and know, that if it is felt that you are in a situation where you might cause self harm or if your messages are vague and alarming we will not hesitate to call 911 in order to support your safety. If you know you need crisis support this resource can be helpful https://www.crisiscentre.bc.ca/
- Just like in circle practice “Lean of Speech” & be laser like in your communication. Rather than the play by play of what is happening for you. Be clear and concise. I’m struggling with….. and I am feeling overwhelmed…. Can someone meet up or call me please? If support reaches out privately to you, please let the chat know that you have made a connection and are being supported. If you are still needing support and nobody has reached out please call out again or call a Man from the group directly.
- Text based sharing is limited in its ability to provide meaningful support. There is a lack of social cues such as tone of voice, eye contact, facial expressions etc. This limitation can cause unnecessary misunderstanding and unintended circumstances. Whenever possible connecting with Men in person or sharing in circle is the preferred method of communication.
